Double Double, Toil & Trouble!

Hello! Last week I was lucky enough to win a competition on FB run by Autumn Moon Designs for this AWESOME witchy themed stamp! As soon as it arrived I had to ink it up and make a card!

You can't really see it from the piccie but I added teeny tiny lime green gems above the cauldron to add some spookiness!

Hope you like the card!

Playing with Apple Blossom dies.

Hello, today I have some fabulous crafty news to share with you. I am delighted to announce I am on the Design Team for the fabulous Craft Stash website! How exciting is that? I know, I still can't believe it! Anyway, enough rambling lol, I was sent some gorgeous Apple Blossom Dies to play, I mean work with and I will share one of the cards just now.

I wanted to try something different for me, and those of you who follow my creations will know this is a whole new style for me.  I decided to use the Floral Nested Frame Dies and keep the focus on the dies and what they can create.  I went for a monochrome colour scheme too as I wanted the card to look classy and elegant, I hope I achieved that.

Ingredients
Stix2 Foam Pads, Pick Up Pencil, PVA Glue, Card Blank
Stampin Up Paper & Sentiment
Archival Ink
Pearlised Paper from The Papeterie

I know I will play a lot more with these Floral Nested Dies, they are £14.99 to buy and you can get 20% off your first order when you register for the Craft Stash Newsletter

Thanks for popping by today, I will be sharing a few more cards this week so remember and say hello!

A Gorjuss wee card!

Hi, today I would like to share a card that I made during the week. A while ago I coloured this wee Gorjuss Girl in with just Sepia toned Promarkers after seeing Sarah Hurley demo it, I popped the image into a safe place and just recently rediscovered her.

I opted for pinks and browns to keep the card nice and simple. I haven't put a sentiment on the card yet...

Here is a side on view so you can see the dimension on the card.

I coloured the stars in with a Sakura glitter gel pen to add some subtle sparkle.

Ingredients
Gorjuss Girl Stamp
Promarkers
Basic Grey & V&A Papers
Sakura Glitter Pen
Gems, papers from stash.

Thanks for popping by today, I have some exciting news to share this week so remember and pop back.  Have a great week,Carol xx

Going Bird Crazy!!

Hello again, and I am delighted to say I have had a fantastic crafty afternoon which included trying something completely out of my comfort zone - water colouring!!  It was great fun and something I will definitely be doing again soon.

I decided to use some of my Distress Inks as a medium to colour, though picking which ones changed as I went as you can see from this picture! I got all my goodies out as I wanted to sit in one place and concentrate on what I was doing, though the scented candle burning in the background is optional ;-)

I bought the Bird Crazy Stamps & Dies ages ago but hadn't had the chance or mojo to play.  I had no inclination to make a card from this wee play session but you will see at the end that I made a card *happy dance*. I changed my Ground Espresso ink pad for a Cracked Pistachio one.

1  Look out the goodies you will need, Stix2 Non Stick Craft Sheet, Distress Inks, Archival Ink, paintbrushes, water, baby wipes, hankies, watercolour paper.

2  Ink up your stamp with Archival Ink as it is waterproof and stamp it onto the watercolour paper.

3 Stamp your DI's onto your craft mat and use it like a palette

4  Wet your brush and pick up some of the ink and colour your birdie in.  Leave it to dry for a while, or use a heat gun to dry it if you are impatient like me.

5  Cut a piece of white card down to layer on your card blank, using a distress tool rub the edge of the piece of card with one of the colours you used on the bird.

6  Pick a sentiment, I used one from a Dylusions Set, stamp onto the piece of card, and glue the bird down.

7  Place a scattering of  coordinating sequins on your card to add some sparkle.

8 Apply Glossy Accents to the birds eyes.

Ingredients
Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Stamps & Dies
Distress Inks
Archival Ink
Dylusion stamps
Glossy Accents
Sequins

Card with Sarah Hurley Sentiment Stamps, Banner Cameo Files and Stix2 Stardust Glitter Card.

Hello, I am slowly getting back to crafting and blogging after my extended break.  Today I am sharing a clean and simple card using Sarah Hurleys Sentiment Stamps, Sarah's Cameo files and Stix2 Stardust Glitter card.

1  Select which colours of Stix2 Stardust Glitter Card you would like to use, I opted for a black base and contrasting bright colours.

2  Lay down your base layer, then cut 3 different sized banners from the colours and one white banner to stamp your sentiment onto.

3  Put your card together and the sentiment of your choice onto the white banner. Place 3d foam behind the banner to give the card some dimension.

Ingredients
Sarah Hurley Banner Nests from the Silhouette Design Store

Thanks for popping by today, I hope you like the card.

Happy Friday Eve!

I am slowly catching up with things here inbetween nurses visits and day to day life.

Today I am sharing a graduation card I made for someone who recently received their BSc.

The main image is the DNA of Seratonin, and the background paper is the Periodic Table.  I used my trusty Cameo for the border and the wee caps!

The recipients favourite colour is red, so I managed to use that as the matting layer.  The recipient loved it and I hope you do too.

Remember and pop back soon, Carol x

Looooong time no blog!

*Blows off dust" Well hello, it's been a while *cough*. As some of you will know we have had a lot going on at Domestic Goddess HQ this past few months. My hubby has been rather ill and had an extended(11 week) stay in hospital, I am delighted to say he is now home and is doing well on his long road to recovery. While he relaxes and catches up with all his recorded shows, I am going to try and dabble in crafting and blogging again, wish us luck lol!

I haven't been crafting the past few months, but didn't blog cards I made before things got rather chaotic. Here is the first, it was for a special friends granddaughters Christening, and the brief was pink, butterflies and bird cage!

I used my trusty Cameo to make a large birdcage, I just love the versatility you get with the ability to change the size of the cut and look how amazingly it cut through really thick mirri card! I am totally loving my Stix2 Pick Up Pencil for adding wee gems and pearls to my cards, it was something I avoided as I was never able to get the precision I wanted. The pencil makes it so easy to get them exactly where you want!

Ingredients
Bird Cage from Silhouette Store
Martha Stewart Punch
Marianne Dies
Craftwork Card Papers
Paper and Ribbon from Stash

I will be gradually adding some more cards and creating new ones. Thanks for popping by today!

First Holy Communion Card.

Hello, this month of May is whizzing by! This is traditionally the time for First Holy Communions and I was recently asked by a client to make a card for a lovely wee girl who was making hers.  I had a mini panic as I have never made one of these cards, hard to believe but true!  Thankfully within my ever growing digi stash I had some gorgeous papers that are perfect for such an occasion.

I decided to keep the card fairly plain and simple and let the images do the talking.  I used my trusty Cameo for the Chalice and Cross shapes, and even managed to use the "Nesting" function for the first time ever after watching a fab You Tube video on the British Craft Network, I now know I need to watch a LOT more of these type of videos lol.

How cool is that? All with the click of a button!

I matted and layered the images with pink card, and popped the centre one onto 3D Foam Pads to give the card some dimension.

Ingredients
Digi Papers
Cross & Chalice from Silhouette Design Store

Thanks for popping by, hope you liked the card, Carol x

Butterfly Card Tutorial

Hello, today I am going to share a card I made with step by step instructions on how I made it.  There are a lot of pictures, so grab a cuppa and get comfy.

I thought I would share the finished card with you first, then show you how I made it.

1 Here are the ingredients for the card;
6x6 Card Blank, Navy Card, White Stamping Card
Swallowtail Butterfly Stamp from Stampin Up
Memento Ink in Paris Dusk
Promarkers in; Indigo Blue, Island Lagoon, Mint Green, Pink Lobster, Pink Carnation, Tropical Orchid, Orchid, Lavender, Tropical Sunrise, Soft Peach, Canary, Lemon.
Kuretake Wink of Stella Brush Pen in Clear
Stix2 PVA Adhesive & 3D Foam Pads
Oval & Scalloped Oval Punch
Sentiment Stamp

2  Trim down your navy layer of card to 14.4cm x 14.2cm
Your white stamping card to 14cmx13.8cm
Place your stamp onto an acrylic block or cd case and ink it up.

3  I stamped the image off centre, to make the card slightly more interesting.

4 Start colouring your butterfly from the centre using Island Lagoon Promarker.

5 Take your Mint Green Promarker and colour over the darker green continuing to fill in the empty area with colour.

6 Using Tequila Sunrise colour the next section of the butterfly, use the shading lines of the stamp to guide you where to place the colour.

7  This time use Soft Peach to blend with the Tequila Sunrise.

8  Take your Canary pen and finish the section and start the next part of the wings.

9  Using the Lemon Promarker, go over the Canary section and colour in some of the next section.

10  The Pink Lobster pen is the next one to use.

11  Go over the Pink Lobster sections with Pink Carnation.

12  Use the Tropical Orchid, colour the next section.

13  Go over the Tropical Orchid with Orchid to blend the colours in.

14  Finish off the section with Lavender.

15  Use the base colours of Tequila Sunrise, Pink Lobster, Canary and Island Lagoon to fill in any empty section and highlight parts of your butterfly.

16  Put your card together by sticking down your navy layer to the card blank, then stick down your butterfly layer.  Time to add lots of subtle sparkle with your Wink of Stella Brush Pen.

Here is a super close close up of the finished butterfly, isn't that sparkle just gorgeous?

17  Stamp the sentiment onto white card and punch it out using the oval punch.
Make a layer to place it on using the navy card and the oval scalloped punch.
Glue your sentiment onto the layer, and pop some 3d Foam under the navy layer and place on your card.

I hope you have enjoyed this step by step post as much as I enjoyed doing it.  Thanks for popping by today.

Fairies and Toadstools!

Hello, today I am sharing a card that has 2 of my favourite things - Fairies and Toadstools.

I decided it was time to look out my Promarkers and Flexmarkers and colour in. Sometimes we all need to escape from real life and take some time out to play. I love the Gorjuss Girl stamps and have one or two *cough* that I like to colour in.  I found a lovely piece of cardstock in my stash and decided to use the colours on it for my Fairy and the die cut toadstools. I have left a wee space at the top right corner so I can pop a sentiment onto once I decide if I can part with it lol.

Ingredients
Gorjuss Girl Stamp
Toadstool & Grass dies
Papers from Stash

I hope you like this card, and it inspires you to look out your pens and have a play!

Thinking Of You

Hello from a very sunny Glasgow! Hope you are having a lovely Easter weekend. We have had a great one so far, lots of relaxing, crafting and chocolate eating!

Today I am going to share a really quick card I made yesterday and it is also quite a clean and simple card.

I used the Sheltering Tree set from Stampin Up.  It is photopolymer (clear) so super easy to layer up.  I made the trunk grey, then used Versa Mark for the foliage and sprinkled with pink embossing powder and used my heat tool.  I then used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to add some "sky".  The sentiment also comes from the set.

Ingredients
Memento Grey Flannel Ink
Tumbled Glass DI
Versa Mark
Pink Embossing powder

Thanks for visiting today, hope you like the card.x

Saleabration is coming to an end!

I really can't believe how quickly the Saleabration from Stampin Up has gone this time. There have been some gorgeous stamp sets, papers and embellishments to get, though I have only went for stamp sets this time. And here are a couple of cards using one stamp from one set.

The papers I have used are Stampin' Up too, both from the same set which is called Confetti Celebration.

These cards are for my stash box, it is always handy to have a few cards put by for birthdays.  Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

"Hoppy Easter"

Hi, I've been lucky enough to have a few days crafting which resulted in an overhaul of the craft room and 3 cards in 24 hours! I know, I am in total shock!

The first card I am going to share is something different for me as it involves glitter card, not just any glitter card but Stix 2 Stardust Glitter Card which is non shed and great for people like me who are not a fan of bits of glitter everywhere.

Seeing as it is roughly a week to Easter, I thought I should make something Eastery! I bought this stamp set I used ages ago and rediscovered it in my tidy up, it's great when that happens isn't it? It is a set from MFT and comes with a selection of goodies you can stamp in the basket, so you can use it for occasions other than Easter.

I coloured it with my Promarkers, something I haven't done for a wee while.

Ingredients
MFT Stamps
Stardust Glitter Card From Stix2 in Lilac and Yellow
Adhesives - 6mm DST1mm 3D Foam PadsPVA Glue from Stix2
Corner Die
Flower Card from Stash

Thanks for popping by today, I think I may have forgotten to mention my exciting news that I am now part of the Stix2 Design Team, so look out for more makes using their great products!
